Cranberry Sauce

Complement your roast turkey with this tasty cranberry sauce. Made with organic dried cranberries and providing you with a big healthy dose of antioxidants, you won't find any hidden pesticides or additives in this delicious condiment.

  • 125g dried cranberries (organic)
  • 200ml filtered water
  • Fine orange zest, from 1 orange
  • Juice of 1/2 an orange(s)
  • 3 Tbsp maple syrup (100%)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon


Add the above ingredients to a medium saucepan and stir to combine.

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer stirring often for 20 - 25 minutes while the dried cranberries become plump and the liquid has reduced to a thick sauce.

Set aside to cool before serving.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

dried cranberries (organic)

Choose organic dried cranberries that contain no preservatives (sulphur). Cranberries have a tangy sweet flavour and deliver a big healthy dose of antioxidants. My favourite organic brands are Edan or Dr Superfoods, which can be purchase from health foods stores or online.

filtered water

I feel it's much better for our health if we filter our water. Our tap water contains disinfectants, chlorine and chloramine. Also floride is add which I believe is toxin to our bodies.

orange zest

The orange is a fruit from the citrus family. Orange zest is the finely grated skin from the outside of the orange but doesn't include the white pith which is bitter. The skin contains the orange oil which gives a stronger flavour when added to cooking. Use organic and locally grown if possible, scrub orange skin before using.

Oranges are full of nutrients, they promote clear healthy skin and have a whopping 170 different phytochemicals and more than 60 flavonoids - giving anti-inflammatory properties and strong antioxidant effects.

maple syrup (100%)

Maple syrup is an earthy, sweet tasting amber liquid that is produced by boiling down the sap of maple trees. Use organic 100% maple syrup which is a natural food sweetener, not a flavoured maple syrup. Pure maple syrup contains a decent amount of some minerals, especially manganese and zinc, some traces of potassium and calcium but it does contain a whole bunch of sugar. I try to reduced the amount of sweetness in each recipe to the lowest possible without compromising taste. Feel free to adjust to your liking. I use maple syrup in place of raw honey when I don't want the strong honey flavour coming through in a recipe. I have paleo cookies and desserts in my cookbook made from whole food ingredients with natural sugars but please don’t overindulge. Use as a treat only for special occasions.


I am sure you will notice as you read my recipes that cinnamon appears quite frequently. It lends itself to savoury and sweet dishes. I have used ground cinnamon in my recipes if not stated otherwise. The best cinnamon to use is Ceylon (Verum). It has huge health benefits in regulating blood sugar levels. Cinnamon has antifungal properties and candida (yeast overgrowth) cannot live in a cinnamon environment. Added to food it inhibits bacterial growth, making it a natural food preservative and these are just a few of the benefits.
